Nesting macros in language macros: Restrictions in Confluence Cloud

What You Need to Know

Confluence Cloud imposes limitations when nesting Atlassian and third-party macros within certain Navitabs macros.

Affected Navitabs macros

Tab macro
Tab Group macro

Unsupported macro types and nesting scenarios

Gadget macros are not supported when nested (e.g., in a Jira gadget), because Atlassian does not support gadgets within nested macros.
Nested rich body macros are not supported in Confluence Cloud.

Rich body macros

Rich body macros provide an editable body where you can add content such as text, images, and other macros.

Typical examples include Tabs/Tab Group, Info/Note/Warning panels, Panel, and Code Snippet.

What you may see when nesting bodied macros

An error in the preview or on the published page
Unexpected formatting on the published page (see formatting issues in nested macros)
Missing or incomplete content on the published page (even if the preview worked)

Possible workarounds

Use nesting deliberately: rely on complex nesting only when essential and reduce macro complexity where possible.
If nesting causes issues, place macros separately on the same page or distribute content across multiple pages.
