Advanced Panelboxes Cloud

Getting started with Advanced Panelboxes for Confluence Cloud

Advanced Panelboxes gives Confluence authors a set of panel designs that an administrator maintains centrally. Authors pick a design from a list instead of styling boxes by hand, so every panel of the same type looks the same across the instance.

Example Advanced Panelboxes for Confluence

Confluence Cloud offers only the built-in panels for information, notes, and warnings, and you cannot change how they look. Advanced Panelboxes closes that gap and keeps your pages inside your corporate design without anyone writing CSS.

What you can do with Advanced Panelboxes

  • Break up dense pages. Split long documentation into panels that readers can scan instead of one wall of text.

  • Signal what a section is. A caution, a tip, or a highlight becomes recognizable by its design, and it means the same thing on every page.

  • Keep one visual language. An administrator defines the designs once. Changing a design updates every panel that uses it, across every space.

  • Let readers open only what they need. Expandable panels keep reference material and optional detail out of the way until someone wants them.

  • Stay readable in both themes. Panels use Atlassian design tokens, so they follow the light or dark theme each reader has chosen.

Advanced Panelbox Macros

The app provides two macros for pages and blog posts. They differ in where their design comes from.

Macro

What it gives you

Panelbox

A panel in one of the designs your administrator defined for the whole instance. The choice stays small on purpose, and the result matches what every other team uses.

Advanced Panelbox

A panel with more control over a single instance: 12 ready-made layouts, icons, badges, expandable content, and its own colors. This macro brings its own presets and does not use the designs from the app settings.

Who uses Advanced Panelboxes

Confluence global admins install the app and define the panel designs available to everyone. See the admin guide.

Authors insert panelboxes on pages and blog posts and pick a design or a layout while they write. They need no admin rights. See the user guide.
