Cloud Migration – Enterprise Theme for Confluence

Atlassian is ending support for Confluence Data Center by March 2029.

Enterprise Theme will not be available on Confluence Cloud.

Although there is no Enterprise Theme app for Confluence Cloud, some components can migrate automatically by installing alternative apps. Other components require manual migration or built-in solutions.

🔄 How to migrate

Please unfold the section below to view instructions for the upcoming migration.

How to migrate Enterprise Theme Components

Tab Content Wrapper and Tab Element Macros

  • Install the Navitabs app on the target cloud instance.

  • During cloud migration, these macros on Confluence pages rename automatically, and the tab navigations appear in the cloud version pages.

Titled Panelbox Macro

  • Install the Advanced Panelbox app on the target cloud instance.

  • During cloud migration, this macro on Confluence pages renames automatically, and the panelbox appears on cloud version pages.

Horizontal Header Menu

Unfortunately, there is no automated migration path for this header menu, nor is there a built-in solution in Confluence.

  • We suggest using our SubSpace Navigation app to recreate horizontal header menus for your needs in your cloud instance.

Language Dropdown

Unfortunately, there is no automated migration path or built-in alternative available here either.

  • To offer entire Confluence pages' content or sections in multiple languages, replace the Language Dropdown Wrapper and Language Dropdown macros in your cloud instance with the language macros from our Translations for Confluence app.

    • Note: This solution does not support translated page titles in Confluence Cloud.

  • Use the aforementioned SubSpace Navigation or alternative language translation apps to link related language versions of pages.

Other UI Elements

There are built-in alternatives for some elements. Here is an overview.

❓ FAQ for Enterprise Theme for Confluence migration

  • Can I use Enterprise Theme on Confluence Cloud?
No, Enterprise Theme is only available for Confluence Data Center and doesn’t exist on Cloud. You have to replace its functionality with Cloud-compatible apps or native features.

  • What should I replace it with when moving to Cloud?
Use a combination of Cloud apps depending on your use case. See the table above.

  • Do the Cloud replacements work the same way as Enterprise Theme macros?

Not exactly. While the suggested Cloud apps can cover most use cases (tabs, panels, navigation, dashboards), they are built on a different technical framework than Enterprise Theme for Confluence, so layout behavior, styling options, and configuration logic may differ.
