How long until a new skill appears? | Elevatic Documentation

It depends on where the work happened and on how new Meridian People & Skills Hub is in your organization.

Situation	What to expect
The app was just installed	Nothing at all until a Jira admin saves the profile population mode.
Right after the mode is saved	The app scans Jira issues resolved in the last 30 days, and Confluence pages edited in the last 30 days. Both run in hourly portions, so a large instance needs time to work through its content.
You resolve a Jira issue	The next hourly scan reads it.
You publish or edit a Confluence page	The next hourly run reads it, so allow up to an hour. Several edits within that hour count as one.
You mark a Confluence edit as minor	Nothing happens. Minor edits are ignored.
Your first dialog in Jira or Confluence	At the earliest 24 hours after the first scan started, and at the start of a working session rather than in the middle of one.
Later review dialogs, Strict Compliance	About once a month, and only if you have suggestions waiting.

What happens after the scan depends on the mode. In Maximum Velocity, a derived skill is on your profile as soon as the scan is through, and it counts in expert search right away. In Strict Compliance, it lands in the Suggested tab and counts only once you accept it, so the answer to "how long" has two parts: The app needs up to an hour, and then it needs you.

The initial scan works through your content in hourly portions, so on a large instance it can take up to a day for the first scan to cover the full 30-day window. Profiles fill up gradually over that time rather than all at once.
