Meridian People & Skills Hub

Which content does the app read?

Meridian People & Skills Hub reads finished work in Jira and Confluence. The exclusions matter as much as the sources, so here is both.

What the app reads

Source

What exactly

Jira

Issues that are resolved and done. The app reads the description, the person's own comments, and their activity in the issue history.

Confluence

Pages and live docs, when they are created or edited, and pages that existed before the app was installed, through a one-time backfill of the last 30 days. The app reads the page body.

What the app does not read

  • Open or in-progress Jira issues

  • Issues in Jira Service Management projects

  • Confluence comments and blog posts

  • Attachments in either product

  • Confluence edits marked as minor

  • Anything outside Jira and Confluence

Who the app attributes the work to

In Jira, the people who acted on the issue, based on the issue history and their own comments. In Confluence, the page's author, everyone who edited it, and the page owner. For pages picked up in the one-time backfill, the app also credits everyone in the page's contributor list.

Whose work the app reads

Not everyone on your site, and not always in both products: which accounts count, and which of their products feed skills, is decided in Who takes part in the hub.

Where the content goes

The content is sent to Atlassian's AI service inside Forge to derive the skills, and it is not stored afterwards. The app keeps only the skill, the level, and the identifier of the work item as evidence. See Does the app send our content to an AI? and What data does the app store?.

Can admins limit the scope?

Yes, before the initial scan begins. Every Jira project outside Jira Service Management and every Confluence space is in scope by default, and nothing has to be added or approved first. The app reads only what its app user is allowed to see, so an admin narrows the scope in Atlassian's own permission settings, which work differently in Jira and Confluence. Before an admin can select a profile population mode and start the scan, the app asks them to review access.

For the step-by-step, see Control what Meridian People & Skills Hub can access. Filters built into the app itself are planned for a later release.
