Problem
After the import, the metadata was lost for all pages in the test Confluence space.
This happened when exporting a space (Space Tools -> Content Tools -> Export) to XML, as well as during a full export.
The import was done in Admin -> Backup and Restore, and then “Upload and restore a space backup”.
Solution
The export and import of Metadata is described in our documentation.
The key point is that the export/import of Metadata is not connected to the export/import function that Confluence offers. To get complete information, go through the following steps:
-
Back up your Confluence instance(s) in case something does not work out.
-
Export the space metadata.
-
Export the space.
-
Import the space on the second instance.
-
Import the metadata on the second instance.
If you have already deleted the space with the metadata, you can use a backup of your Confluence instance to access the information by following the steps above.
