Migration of Linchpin User Profiles to User Profiles for Confluence Cloud

User Profiles for Confluence (Microsoft Attributes Sync) supports migrating existing user profile macros from Confluence Data Center to Cloud, even if those macros were created with other user profile apps, such as Linchpin User Profiles.

The following sections describe the recommended procedure for migrating macros from Linchpin to User Profiles for Confluence.

  • Profile macros
Both apps override Confluence’s native profile macro, which makes migrating to Cloud easy:

  1. Uninstall Linchpin User Profiles

  2. Use User Profiles for Confluences Cloud Migration dialog to prepare profile macros for Cloud. See our documentation here.

  3. Install User Profiles for Confluence (Microsoft Attributes Sync)

  4. Run the migration preparation

  5. Generate the CSV file that maps Confluence’s user-keys to the respective MS Entra ID accountId

Now, the profile macros render in Cloud!

  • User list macros
User list macros require a bit more attention during migration.

After the migration, they remain visible and functional, but some additional configuration is necessary. Convert them to our app’s Profile List macro, either via scripting or manually. Then configure each instance of this macro in Cloud as described in our documentation.

  • Org chart macros
Org chart macros are typically used less frequently and can be recreated manually in Cloud on a case-by-case basis.

This approach preserves existing profile-related content during the transition from Confluence Data Center apps to Confluence Cloud.
