Meridian People & Skills Hub

Ask the Skills Navigator agent for experts

Skills Navigator is the Rovo agent that comes with Meridian People & Skills Hub. Use it to ask for experts in your own words, follow up on an answer, or get suggestions for the issue or page you have open.

The agent works only with skills in your organization's skill catalog. It can't invent a skill or a person.

How to work with the Skills Navigator agent

  1. Open Rovo chat in Jira or Confluence.

  2. Select the Skills Navigator agent.

  3. Ask your question, or select one of the conversation starters:

    • Find an expert who can solve this topic uses the Jira issue or Confluence page you have open.

    • List experts for a specific skill asks you which skill you mean.

    • Tell me more about yourself explains what the agent can do.

  4. Refine the answer in the chat, for example by naming a different skill or asking for another candidate.

The agent answers with a short summary and a ranked list of up to five people. For each person, it gives the name as a link to their skills profile, their role and department, the match score, the relevant skills with their level for example, Kubernetes (4/5), and a short rationale for the recommendation.

What the agent does and doesn't do

  • It works in two ways: From the Jira issue or Confluence page you have open, or from skills you name yourself. If neither is available, it asks instead of guessing.

  • It matches your topic against the existing skill catalog and drops anything that isn't in it. If nobody in your organization recorded a skill, it returns nobody.

  • It doesn't attribute a skill or level to a person who wasn't matched.

  • If something goes wrong on its side, it says so rather than reporting that no experts exist.

  • Unlike the Get expert advice panel on an issue, the agent doesn't exclude the assignee, the reporter, or you.

  • Unlike the hub, the agent doesn't tell you when the app hasn't been set up yet. If a Jira admin hasn't chosen the profile population mode, no skills have been collected, and the agent simply finds nobody.

  • If the app's license isn't valid, the agent replies with a license message instead of recommendations.
